Two Leaders in the Local Food Movement Join Forces
Hy-Vee, a traditional supporter of the local food scene, is joining with Tomāto Tomäto, a local food exchange, in efforts to make local foods accessible to all corners of the metro area by supporting Tomāto Tomäto’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
Tomāto Tomäto is home to the metro area’s largest CSA program serving 1500 individuals and families with fresh local foods from over 30 area farms 35 weeks of the year. Their mission is to grow the food shed and expand the markets for local farms and producers of all sizes.
When asked about the partnership, Ryan Pekarek of Pekarek’s Produce in Dwight, Ne said, “It’s a great opportunity to expand the Omaha market. We enjoy working with Tomāto Tomäto and trust the relationship between Hy-Vee and Tomāto Tomäto will benefit a lot of growers.”
Tomāto Tomäto’s CSA shares will be available for pick up at all Omaha area Hy-Vee stores. In addition, watch for all of your favorite local produce, meats, grains and more to be popping up on your local Hy-Vee shelves.
